Glenn Miller

Glenn Miller was born in 1904; an American jazz musician and big band leader who presumably went missing in a plane crash in 1944, though no body or remains were ever recovered.

1915 – Moves to Grant City in Missouri with family
1918 – Moves to Fort Morgan in Colarado with family
1921 – Graduates from high school
1923 – Joins University of Colerado
1924 – Drops out of university to pursue musical career
1926 – Joins Ben Pollack’s band
1928 – Marries Helen Berger
1929 – Records two jazz tracks with vocalist Red McKenzie
1930 – Joins Red Nichol’s orchestra
1934 – Becomes musical director of the ‘Dorsey Band’
1935 – Assembles orchestra for band leader Ray Noble
1937 – Forms first band, which is unsuccessful and breaks up
1938 – Forms second band
1939 – Band selected to play the summer-season at Glen Island Casino
05/02/1940 – records ‘Tuxedo Junction’
1941 – Band plays in the movie ‘Sun Valley Serenade’
1942 – Band plays in the movie ‘Orchestra Wives’
27/09/1942 – band plays last civilian concert in Passaic, New Jersey
1942 – Voluntarily joins army to entertain troops
1943 – Band tours England
15/12/1944 – Is reported missing in a plane crash on way to play for troops in France.
